Every area at V-REX is further thought and optimized. Because everything is just a stop, a status in search of the better. Our patented technology makes highly efficient use of the forces acting on our sailboat. Hydrofoils (underwater wings) lift the boat out of the water and provide maximum reduction of water resistance. Increased aerodynamic lift, caused by the windward position, additionally relieves the system and, according to CFD simulation, leads to incredible speeds. If these calculations are to be believed, the V-REX will be the fastest sailboat in the world.
Almost the entire weight of the V-REX shifts to the sail load due to its windward position, thus reducing the loads on the hydrofoils.
This puts the V-REX in a league as a sports boat that can achieve speeds five times higher on the water than conventional sailboats. In addition, the V-REX is controlled from a cockpit, similar to an airplane, and thus not only offers enormous safety for the crew, but can also be operated by sailors who understand the concept but do not have to meet any special physical requirements.
The technology is an absolute milestone in sailing history and thus represents a quantum leap similar to the development from square rig to square rig, the development of the windsurfer, kite technology or foiling technology.
Our vision is that the V-REX will become the link between high-tech sport sailing and emission-free cargo transport. While airplanes burn hundreds of tons of kerosene per Atlantic flight, pollute the atmosphere with particulate matter and incur enormous costs for this, the V-REX cargo sails across the Atlantic totally emission-free with wind and electrical energy and needs only 3 ½ days longer.
